What initially drew you to volunteer for The Clothes Closet/Dress for Success, and how has your role evolved over time?
I was drawn into volunteering at the Clothes Closet by attending one of the sales. There I talked to Trish about the program and asked if they needed any more volunteers. She was very friendly and enthusiastic about me becoming a volunteer there. I started by helping, setting up the sale and working the sales. I had extra time and came on board sorting and processing the clothes with Dianne.
Can you share a particularly rewarding experience you've had while volunteering with us?
One of the most rewarding experiences I had at DFS happened recently. I was helping 2 Ukrainian refugees when one mentioned that the selection of items was better than a “Real Store.” Also seeing how happy people leave a sale after finding treasures.
In your opinion, what makes our organization unique compared to other volunteer opportunities you've been involved with? And are you proud of what the program has turned into and achieved?
I love the feeling of knowing you are helping out people who have little and are desperately trying to get items to look good at an interview. Best volunteer job I have ever had.
I am not only proud but amazed at how the program has progressed from a couple of people doing all aspects of DFS to having a very supportive group organizing and making the job
